This is an easy one, but you’ll likely need to have some heirloom seeds to start off with.

These 2 sources provide good heirloom starter kits:



But you can always order packets from other sources.

Now reach out to try to swap others for their types and varieties. Obviously start by contacting likeminded others that you know.

Then try posting ads in the “Barter” section at Craigslist. This should be the best way locally. I’ve never noticed anyone trying to do swaps on Yahoo “Freecycle”, haven’t tried it yet, and don’t know if they’ll allow it.

You could also try other local avenues. Wikipedia mentions a concept known as “Seedy Sunday”, but Google God doesn’t bring up anything for my local city.
